Mahashivaratri

11th Feb 2010, Mahashivaratri was celebrated at school by the students. The Programme began with an introduction given to the festival. A few bhajans were presented by the students of std 3. This was a joyous occasion and students now went back with their minds lit up with the knowledge that they had received from their dear friends.

Republic Day celebration
|
|
|
Republic Day was celebrated by one and all at school. The assembly was followed by a short programme which consisted a lot of variety. It began with a speech which brought with it the essence of this important day. A skit (short) was performed by students to portray the educational rights of people which very clearly drove home the point with a bit of humour. Students of higher classes came dressed as Leaders and they acted out the Constitution Development. The programme came to an end with a multilingual song sung by our very own choir. The spirit of patriotism was seen in every child towards the end.

Pongal Celebrations
|
|
8th January 2010, Pongal was celebrated at school, students were told about the harvest festival which lasted for a few days. It began with Boghi where the homes are cleaned and all the waste are collected and put away. Mattu Pongal and Kanu Pongal were celebrated by worshipping cows and bulls to get blessings for the whole year while family and friends gathered on this joyous occasion to spread the happiness. Folk songs were sung by our very own choir to mark the festival and the spirit of Pongal was brought alive!

Christmas Celebration
|
|
Christmas was celebrated in school. The curtain closed for the term with a musical skit produced by standard VIII students, assisted by standards III, IV and V. The students put up a delightful play which gave us a message of Christmas: Lighting a candle in ones life.

Students of PSBBLLA had an enthralling experience when their teachers entertained them with a spectacular performance to celebrate Children’s Day.
This show was held on 1st Dec, 2009. The teachers sang, danced and acted to entertain the children. This sure was a treat to all our lovely kids.

Deepavali Celebration
|
|
The festival of lights Deepavali was ushered into the school with great enthusiasm. The morning assembly was followed by a short variety programme which was begun by a song invoking the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi. This was followed by a dance drama Narakasura Vadam. The programme came to an end with an aarti to Goddess Lakshmi in the form of Diya Dance.

Dusshera Celebration

17th September 2009 : The Students witnessed a beautiful blend of North and South Indian Traditions during the Dussehra celebrations. On the one hand, dolls were displayed as ‘Kolu’ which enthralled the little ones of our school while on the other hand, 'Garba' was performed and devotional songs sung.

SHOW AND TELL ON FRUITS (27th & 28th Aug, 2009)
Children presented different fruits and spoke 4 - 5 lines about them in their classrooms.
LKG – FRUIT SALAD DAY (26th Aug, 2009)
The classroom was transformed into a kitchen with clean napkins, clean bowls, spoons, knives and chefs for the fruit salad day. The children saw fruits of different colours, shapes and textures. They learned the process of making a fruit salad and enjoyed it as a healthy treat. Yummy…………
LKG VEGETABLE WEEK (10th to 13th Aug, 2009)
Vegetable week was organized in school. Children were informed about different varieties of vegetables, their texture, taste, smell and growth. Children had “Show and Tell” about vegetable where children showed the vegetables and spoke 4 – 5 lines about them in their classrooms. “Vegetable market day” was a great experience for children to sell and buy vegetables in the market (role-play).
JANMASHTAMI CELEBRATIONS
The birth of Krishna – Janmashtami was celebrated with great pomp and show in the KG Block on the 13th of Aug, 09.
The Pre KG children were told stories about Krishna, the naughty child God, which they enjoyed thoroughly. They had great fun SPONGE DABBING “BABY KRISHNA- THE MAKHAN CHOR” (with blue paint).
A general assembly was organized for the LKG children. The children were told stories about the birth of Krishna. Bhajans were sung. The children had a great time. Cute Krishna crowns were made for LKG children as giveaways.
UKG children were told stories of KRISHNA. Beautiful flutes were made for UKG children as giveaways.
By the end of the day, the school was full of jubilant LITTLE KRISHNAS, wearing crowns and carrying flutes home.

TEACHER’S DAY
8th Sep 2009, the entire school celebrated teacher’s day with great zest as they performed various forms of dance, songs and a play. The children showed their affection and respect towards their teachers throughout the programme.
ONAM FESTIVAL
1st Sep 2009, on the eve of Onam, students performed “ Thiruvadhira” (traditional dance). “ Pookalam” ( floral rangoli) competition was held to mark the harvest festival of Kerala..
GOWRI GANESHA FESTIVAL
21st Aug 2009, Gowri Ganesha festival was celebrated. Slokas were recited in praise of Lord Ganesha. Devotional songs were also sung by the school choir.
INDEPENDENCE DAY
13th Aug 2009, Independence Day was celebrated in School. To mark the special day, patriotic songs competition was held between the houses.
SRI KRISHNA JANMASHTAMI
12th Aug 2009, Std I - III celebrated the festival. Children dressed up as Lord Krishna and Radha “Performed Krishna Leela”. Devotional songs were also sung.

Children's Day Celebration (5th to 14th November)

What other day to celebrate the beauty and joy of PSBBLLA students! Any number of days would be less to show how much we value and love our students. But, we tried really hard to do it in around 10 days.
It all began on November 5th, with class I students dressed as their favourite Fairy Tale characters.
November 6th saw II stds dressed as their favourite National Leaders.
On November 7th Group singing (western) was organised for classes III.
November 11th saw Story Writing for class V, while class VI presented the story ‘CINDRELLA’ with a Twist in the Tale on 12th.
November 13th was for the group recitation by classes IV; class VII was busy in Poster making, skit, speech and poetry writing on the topic ‘Happy Children’.
The final day, November 14th saw the entertainment programs, including dance, song and mock kutcheri by the teachers. The significance of Karnataka Rajyotsava was also talked about. The day also saw the competitions for stds IV onwards in Thumb printing, Glass painting, Pot painting, Poster making etc. |

Independence day, Varamahalakshmi & Upakarma

Single day, triple celebrations.
Yes, the day saw the celebration of Independence day, with students talking about our great National leaders. ‘Unity in Diversity’ of our nation was depicted by our students dressed up and speaking in the languages of our different states. This was followed by the famous ‘Saare Jahaan Se Achcha.’
Children spoke about the significance of Varamahalakshmi Pooja and distributed ‘Haldi Kumkum’ and flowers to teachers.
Raksha Bandhan/Upakarma was also celebrated with girls tying ‘Rakhis’ to boys and speaking about the significance of the same. |
